Group Says Solano's Affordable Homes' Aren't Affordable to Most Solano Residents

dailyrepublic.com: "It's no secret California housing prices are sky high, but members of the Solano Housing Coalition say it is a secret Solano County has a housing affordability crisis - and they want to require new developments to set aside some of their homes to sell below market value to deal with the issue.

Solano County's affordable-housing crisis is hidden because the county seems affordable compared with more expensive Bay Area counties, and because lots of homes are being built here, said Kate O'Hara of the Greenbelt Alliance. But local residents can't afford the new houses, she said."

Inman Consumer News: "Aging Baby Boomers are buying second homes at a record pace. Last year alone, 377,000 single-family second homes were sold, according to the National Association of Realtors. Buying a second home for retirement, vacation or rental may be a great idea. But if you're buying outside of the area you're accustomed to, plan on ramping up your due diligence investigations.

Buying A Home After Bankruptcy - Get A Mortgage Loan After Bankruptcy

Buying A Home After Bankruptcy - Get A Mortgage Loan After Bankruptcy: "If you have a recent bankruptcy on your credit and are looking to get financing for a home, there is hope. Buying a home with bad credit will just put more emphasis on the other two factors needed to get a mortgage loan, which are; income verification and a down payment.
After bankruptcy most lenders want you to wait at least 2 years from the time of the bankruptcy discharge before they will consider you for a mortgage loan. After the two year waiting period is over, you should be able to get financing easily. You should also be able to get 100% financing as well. You can usually achieve this as long as at least most of your payments have been reported to the credit bureau as having been paid on time since the discharge of your bankruptcy"

How Do I Avoid Being Overcharged in Home Purchase?

Bob Bruss Real Estate Center: "If you are a first-time home buyer, or perhaps a new real estate agent, 'Home Closing Checklist' by Robert Irwin will be profitable reading. This new book explains what to expect at the sale closing and how to avoid being overcharged.
But this is more than a book about the sale closing. It also explains what happens from the moment the home seller accepts the purchase offer until the title and possession transfer to the buyer."
